Before you can even get into a car and start learning to drive, you have to apply and hold a Provisional Driving Licence. To apply for this you must complete Application Form D1 from either the DVLA (Driver & Vehicle Licensing Agency) Form Ordering Service, or from your local Post Office. It can take around 4 weeks for your application to be processed and to receive your Provisional Licence, so if you would like to start learning to drive as soon as you hit 17 make sure you start early!
